bike City

2017 was the year of the bike. The 200th year of the bike to be exact, since the first version of it was built in 1817.

The broshure contains moody photography of Amsterdam. Next to them is information all around the city and their bikes, plus amusing facts about their bike culture.

The Illustrations done by Sophie Hennerbichler completement the photography, as well as the photographs do other way around. They are both always themed by what’s in the text.

The photographs were taken in July 2017 during a trip through six other european countries next to the Netherlands, for example Belgium and Luxemburg.

The two colours were inspired by the city itself. The turquoise comes from the water flowing through the sewers of Amsterdam. The dark, dirty red represents the rusty bikes, street lamps, railings and simply the age of the city.
